Kindred Artist of the Week: Christine Trac
"My favorite moments are when I see new beautiful little details emerge – it’s unexpectedly delightful to learn something new in the process of repetition."
Presenting our Kindred Artist of the Week series! We are big fans of all the artists we work with and we are so excited to share their stories!
This week’s featured artist is Christine Trac, the thoughtful and impeccable designer behind Abacus Row. We love the fine details and subtle beauty of her work, and her intentionality around community and cultural connection.
Who are you?
Christine Trac, designer and founder of Abacus Row.
What do you do?
I create work that seeks balance between detail and simplicity.
Who/what inspires you?
What’s your favorite moment in the process?
My process is rooted in trial and error, and seeing how various components come together. I’m looking for a balance between color, texture, weight, pattern – some of which is innate in the materials I’ve selected and some of which I have control of when I combine them. I repeat this process over and over with very similar materials. My favorite moments are when I see new beautiful little details emerge – it’s unexpectedly delightful to learn something new in the process of repetition.
What’s a trick of your trade, or a piece of advice for other artists in your medium?
