Kindred Artists of the Week: Brandy Diaz Scott & Eric Scott

Presenting our Kindred Artist of the Week series! We are big fans of all the artists we work with and we are so excited to share their stories!
This week’s featured artists are Brandy Diaz Scott and Eric Scott, the creative, adventurous duo behind Alpenglow Candle Co. We love the way they've transformed the wild outdoors into a soothing inside experience. They've been making all our homes smell better since 2017 and they'll be celebrating the company's two year anniversary tonight at First Friday with a candle pour. BYOContainer between 4:30-7pm!
Who are you?
Foremost, we are adventurers. We desire to seek and experience all that nature and the wild has to offer. Adventure is what brought us together and what brought us to Southeast Alaska. Community and a desire to serve this special place is what keeps us here. By day, we are both educators and see the transformative effect that education can have on lives and communities. We support public education from early childhood to the University of Alaska. We are happy to have the balance between service to education and an active outdoor lifestyle that life in Juneau affords us.
What do you do?
We curate artisan soy blend candles that are inspired by adventure in Southeast Alaska and unlike anything that you'll find from mass production companies. We place each wick and pour our wax by hand. We hand stamp and hand place our labels. Every candle we make is high quality and no two are alike.
What’s your favorite moment in the process?
Brandy has an amazing sense of smell and likes trying out new fragrance blends for candles. She has a unique ability to pick out specific notes and notice where and how a blend should be refined.
Eric loves to trim the wicks because of the finished look it gives the candles. Eric also really enjoys interfacing with potential clients and talking with excitement about what we do.
