Al Laudert, from Valdez, Alaska, has dedicated his life to the love of shrimp. He began shrimping long ago, and it didn’t take him long to realize harvesting them just wasn’t enough. He was so charmed by shrimp beauty that he began to pose and photograph them-- tiny shrimp models, doing all sorts of shrimpy things, in their little shrimp world. After many, many, many of these photos his daughters finally convinced him to do something with them-- and the Shrimp Whisperer was born! He now makes his photos into calendars and cards for any occasion. Shrimp love apparently runs in the family, because I once met a woman wearing a black dress with pink shrimp on it, and it turned out that she was one of the Shrimp Whisperer’s daughters. When I asked her about it she said “Yeah, I’ve been getting really into Shrimp Fashion recently.”
